Well well well. What have we here? An accidental band perhaps. An electric little song bird brought to life by a mad scientist. Something captivating, to say the very least.
Amelia's sweet and simple voice isn't a shy, girly sound overshadowed by bleeps and blorps. In the track "Dress" her voice is chopped and synthesized to create an orchestra of tweeting little Amelias met with deep clap tracks that compliments her simplicity.
Imagine hearing birds chirping at midnight. You feel like you're waking up but also winding down. Its a familiar sound but put in an odd context.
In March 2013, Sylvan Esso released their first single "Hey Mami" much to the pleasure of music bloggers everywhere. However, it wasn't until January, with the release of "Coffee" that the addiction began. Smooth, sweet, warm, you want to sip on this track casually while you tap your toes. The music video illustrates (much like the song itself) the importance of finding your own dance; albeit the hanky-panky or not.
But let's get to the moment of conception that night in Durham. "Play It Right" was originally a Mountain Man track. Amelia passed it along to Nick and came out is this; a fun, dance, pseudo-pop, flash-of-a-track.
This musical child is bound for a great future, begging other artists to come out and play.
You should too.
