Here are all the Atlanta and Athens area shows you need to know about for JAM PACKED autumn. September is already off to a hot start with last night's free Passion Pit show at the Georgia Freight Depot presented by Mercedes-Benz. The rest of September is full festivals and other great shows before the city erupts in October with great shows seemingly every day! When their first track, 'Cause I'm a Man', was released, my instant reaction was trepidation. I was excited that one of my favorite bands was making new work. That excitement was instantaneously eclipsed by fear that our Australian, psychedelic geniuses would not be able to outdo their 2012 brilliant, shining record 'Lonerism'. As I streamed the track, the fear subsided and I was back in 2012 -  flowing and getting lost in Kevin Parker's meticulous attention to detail; casually mixing and manipulating sounds to complement his sometimes enigmatic lyrics. Except this time, despite the bloops and blorps of producing, one thing was glaringly clear. 

Father John Misty ::: I Love You, Honeybear

Dear Diary,

Over the past 24 hours I’ve listened to a man completely expose himself; the good, the bad, the ugly. Father John Misty’s newest album ‘I Love You, Honeybear’ is a true and honest approach about his experience with falling in love with his wife. It isn’t intentionally gushy and is very raw. Love is a beautiful thing but it hasn’t been pretty.

The Coachella Lineup is Here!

Coachella has announced their lineup and it's headliners of AC/DC, Jack White, and Drake.  This year has an extensive mix of EDM with David Guetta, Alesso, Axwell & Ingrosso among others.  Of course Jack White and Florence headline the indie music, but others not to miss include Vance Joy, Father John Misty, The War on Drugs, alt-J, Cloud Nothings, St. Lucia, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.  The hip hop scene is well represented with Drake, Run the Jewels,  Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Overall this is diverse lineup that hits on many different genres, let us know what you think

In a time of year where shows can be somewhat sparse, 2015 opens up with plenty to be excited about and keep us busy. Surfer Blood changed it up somewhat with their 2013 release of Python. A good album, but it went more towards beachy Blink 182 vibe, but the better version of it. We were able to catch them last year at the Goat Farm opening up for Foals and they put on a good show. I think the gem of this show is catching Nashville mellow noise rockers
