Started in 2008 when former Los Angeles high school classmates, guitarists Ryan Hahn and Talyor Rice teamed up with keyboardist Kelcey Ayer to form Local Natives. The trio, who also provide vocals for the group then added drummer Matt Frazie and Andy Hamm on bass, before relocating to Silver Lake. After funding their first album, Gorilla Manor, it was released in early 2010. Word of the band quickly spread after their 2010 SXSW performance, their second consecutive year at the festival. Nearly a year later the band parted ways with Hamm and began working on their recent 2013 release, Hummingbird. If you aren't familiar with them, you'll want to acquaint yourself before June.
