Genre Spotlight ::: Neo Psychedlia

Neo psychedlia is music influenced by the psychedelic culture and the psychedelic music of the sixties and seventies. Some of the biggest names in music dabbled in the psych rock pond; the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, Cream, the Doors, and Pink Floyd.

Foxygen
A two man band from just outside of Los Angeles. Their latest album We are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic is set to release on Tuesday, January 22nd. You can stream the new album here, on Pitchfork. I would recommend giving it a thorough listen as it has quickly jumped to the top of my 2013 albums.

MGMT
A five-piece from Middletown, Connecticut that quickly shot to stardom after signing with Columbia Records in 2006. Originally going by the name The Management, but changed their name to MGMT after their original name was already used. They have two LPs Oracular Spectacular and Congratulations and are currently wrapping up their self-titled third album that is set to release later in 2013.

Tame Impala
Lonerisim, released in late 2012, was one of the best albums of the last half of last year. This Australian band will be playing at the Georgia Theater in Athens, GA on February 23rd.
